Chiamaka

Meet Chiamaka, Minds Matter Cleveland Class of 2019! Chiamaka will be attending Tufts University in the fall. She plans to study biochemistry with a minor related to African American Studies or Gender Studies. She graduated from Cleveland School of Science & Medicine at John Hay. For her Minds Matter summer program, Chiamaka attended Yale University for a program on applied science and engineering while she was in high school.

Chiamaka’s feelings about Minds Matter: “Minds Matter is home, it is support, and it is a community of people who care about you.”

From her mentor, Lukun Zhang: “I feel lucky to have been a part of Chiamaka’s journey for the past three years and to have seen her grow both academically and personally. She has high expectations for herself and consistently demonstrates resilience when facing challenges. She cares a lot for those around her, and I know that this will continue to serve her and her community well. I’ll miss seeing her on Saturdays and our witty banter, but I am also very excited for her and the fun adventures she has ahead!”
