Zephaniah

Zephaniah is currently a senior at Cleveland Early College High School (John Hay Campus), a college preparatory school where she has earned college credits and will graduate with an Associate’s Degree this summer.

Zephaniah shared that thanks to Minds Matter, her ACT score increased by 8 points, which allowed her to attend her dream school, Howard University, with a full ride scholarship! She plans on majoring in Political Science or African Studies. Zephaniah wants to have a career in government or international diplomacy to help uplift the voices of historically disenfranchised people in America. She also wishes to travel to countries with high poverty levels to help improving their society.

In addition to a significant improvement in ACT score, Zephaniah has thoroughly enjoyed an “educational yet fun” experience with Minds Matter, where she gets to connect with other high-achieving students in Cleveland. Her mentors Chris and Andrew described Zephaniah as “effortlessly outgoing.”

Outside of school, Zephaniah likes to make costumes of popular figures (e.g. Michonne from The Walking Dead, Wonder Woman, Batgirl). She also enjoys gardening and will be volunteering with students in Guatemala this summer to teach them about sustainability.
