Meet Tosheania, Minds Matter Cleveland Class of 2019! She will attend Oberlin College in the fall. Tosh is a Euclid High School graduate. For her Minds Matter summer program, while in high school she studied how structural racism affects the health outcomes of black communities at Brown University. She will major in neuroscience and environmental studies and plans to go on to medical school to become a doctor.

Tosh said: “Minds Matter feels like home. I am a part of a college-going community here at Minds Matter. For me it’s a community that I don’t have at home or at my school and I am able to share my interests and passions in an encouraging space. Minds Matter gave me a second family that I could trust. I can only hope that one day I can change someone’s life the way Minds Matter has changed mine.”

From her mentor, Lily Vanderbloemen: “Tosh continues to impress me with her resiliency and drive. Her determination and passion to do what is right and do it well will serve her well. Tosh has been pursuing a career in the medical field for years, and has worked hard to pursue that goal. Oberlin is lucky to have Tosh. We’ll miss her, and wish her the best of luck!”
